On July 17, 2024, at the headquarters of the Central American Integration System, SICA, located in El Salvador, COCESNA’s CEO Executive Director, Mr. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, accompanied by COCESNA officials, held an important meeting with the Executive Secretary of the Central American Commission for Environment and Development, CCAD-SICA, to strengthen the technical cooperation ties between the two bodies of the Regional Integration System.
The meeting addressed important issues related to the sustainability of the international aviation sector, in which COCESNA promotes the initiative “ALAS, Alliance for Sustainable Aviation”, which seeks, among other issues, the development of various technical mechanisms for the reduction and mitigation of carbon emissions for the aviation sector, in sync with regional policies emanating from the Regional Climate Change Strategy, as well as the standards and methods recommended by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
COCESNA’s technical participation in the project “Promoting Climate Risk Management and the reduction of carbon emissions in the SICA region” was also discussed, together with other agencies of the system, in a true example of collaboration for the achievement of common objectives, which, among others, seeks to prepare specialized studies that will enable development in the region.
