On December 4 of this year, at the facilities of the Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aeronautics (INAC) in Nicaragua, COCESNA held a working session aimed at monitoring the environmental goals of international civil aviation, within the framework of the commitments on the environment and climate change.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Walner Abraham Molina Pérez, Director General of INAC; Lic. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, Executive Director/CEO of COCESNA; and Eng. Giovanni Tobar, COCESNA’s Environmental Manager; as well as officials from INAC and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MARENA).
During the session, the guidelines of the CORSIA mechanism and the regional initiatives promoted by COCESNA to mitigate impacts, including the Carbon Neutrality 2030 program, were reviewed.
Nicaragua’s progress in the management of Avian and Fauna Hazards was also highlighted. A tour of the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport facilities was also conducted, specifically in the parking area, where the project for the installation of photovoltaic systems, coordinated by EAAI, was presented, highlighting its contribution to the reduction of the carbon footprint of the airport network.
