On February 5, COCESNA, in coordination with CCAD/SICA and with the support of the cooperation of the Republic of China (Taiwan), held the webinar “Perspectives and Challenges of Sustainable and Low Carbon Aviation Fuels (SAF/LCAF) in Central America.
The day began with the words of the Executive Director – CEO of COCESNA, Mr. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, and Mr. Oscar Liang, from the cooperation of the Republic of China (Taiwan), and was attended by more than 95 participants and regional and international experts, including the Vice Minister of Natural Resources and Climate Change of Guatemala, Sr. Edwin Castellanos; Alexandra Calvo, IATA Commercial Fuels Manager; Kevin Ou, ICDF technical expert from Taiwan in SICA; Giovanni Tobar, COCESNA Environmental Manager; Luis Fernando Vargas, CCAD Analyst; and Mr. Alfredo Iglesias, SAF/LCAF expert…
During the event, it was emphasized that the international airline industry has decisively incorporated the environmental variable into its operations, in line with the commitments promoted by ICAO and IATA. In this context, COCESNA reaffirmed its regional leadership by promoting, for more than a decade, operational measures that have enabled it to reduce at least 110,000 tons of net carbon emissions in the 2020-2025 period.
The webinar marks the beginning of a series of actions aimed at promoting the development of sustainable aviation fuels in Central America, reaffirming that regional integration is key to more sustainable aviation.
