San José, Costa Rica – Central American Aviation Day was celebrated on September 19, when the International Air Transport Association (IATA), together with the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) and the Costa Rican Airline Association (ALA), joined forces to organize an event that brought together industry experts, airline and airport executives, and government authorities to discuss the latest opportunities and key challenges in aviation throughout Central America.

One of the key points discussed at the event was the important relationship between the tourism sector and aviation in the Central American region, without leaving out other issues of equal importance such as: the regulatory framework, the benefits of connectivity and the challenges of airport infrastructure.

Juan Carlos Trabanino, Director of the Central American Air Navigation Agency (ACNA), was present as a panelist on behalf of COCESNA and explained the challenges and opportunities of having a state-of-the-art airport infrastructure.
