The first meeting of aviation accident investigation specialists (AIG) was held. The meeting was attended by specialists designated by the States of Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, in addition to an AIG specialist from the Central American Aviation Safety Agency (ACSA) and its Director.

The Technical Secretariat of COCESNA in combination with the Coordinator for the operation of the Regional Group for the Investigation of Aviation Accidents and Incidents (GRIAA) Cap. Carlos Salazar Sánchez, Director of the Nicaraguan Aeronautical Authority and member of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, was in charge of the meeting and together with the attendees, described the event as successful, considering that the first indications for the creation of the GRIAA were in 2004, and it is now that a working group has been consolidated that, in addition to collaborating in the creation of the GRIAA, will coordinate and come to provide assistance to the Central American States that require it in the event of an event (accident or major aviation incident), In addition to collaborating in the creation of the GRIAA, it will coordinate and provide assistance to the States of the Central American region that require it in the event of an event (accident or major aviation incident).

The main achievement of these days of meetings was the establishment of an activation mechanism for rapid response to an event, as well as the establishment of a role with specialists to respond to the emergency, also marked the integration of COCESNA to the special working group to collaborate in the formation of the regional body for the investigation of aviation accidents and incidents.
