With the collaboration of the Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics (DGAC) of Guatemala, headed by Capt. Pilot Francis Argueta Aguirre, who inaugurated the Meeting for the Re-design of Central American Airspace, at the DGAC facilities, which was the host, expressing in his words the importance of this type of events that primarily aim to provide greater fluidity and dynamism to regional aviation.
The event, which began on Monday, March 25 and ended on Friday, March 29, 2019, also had the support of the Central American Corporation of Air Navigation Services (COCESNA), and served to bring together again specialists in aeronautical information and cartography, in the design of instrument approach procedures, air traffic controllers and specialists in communications, navigation and surveillance, who were present to represent the States of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, as well as COCESNA.
“More challenges are on the horizon to achieve seamless air traffic management (ATM) in all ICAO Regions, The anticipated increases in air operations in the NAM, CAR and SAM regions, with which the Central American sub-region interacts, will require gradual operational improvements in the ATM system to ensure optimal air traffic flow in certain areas during periods when demand exceeds or is expected to exceed available capacity.”
