With the participation of representatives of the States of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and COCESNA, with the collaboration of the FAA, the moderation by the ICAO NACC Regional Office Representation, and the important presence of Observers from CANSO and IATA, the inauguration of the Workshop for the Development/Updating of Contingency Plans of Member States and COCESNA took place in the city of Tegucigalpa, Honduras from August 6 to 9, 2019.
Raul Chong, representing the FAA, Mr. Eddian Mendez, ATM/SAR Specialist of ICAO’s NACC RO, and the welcoming remarks and inauguration of the event by Mr. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, Executive President of COCESNA.
Mr. Raúl Chong expressed his pleasure to be in this opportunity to be in this workshop in Tegucigalpa, again supported by the FAA, and in sharing his own experiences, he asked the representatives for their collaboration to obtain good results and the respective contingency plans for each State.
The ICAO ATM/SAR specialist, Mr. Eddian Méndez, also expressed his satisfaction at being in Tegucigalpa for the first time, thanking COCESNA for its hospitality and congratulating it for the facilities it has for the provision of services, having the opportunity to visit its facilities beforehand. He also stressed the importance of this Workshop and the main objectives to be achieved during this week, reiterating on behalf of Mr. Melvin Cintron, ICAO NACC Regional Director, his gratitude for the valuable collaboration of FAA, COCESNA, the presence of the Central American States and the Observer Organizations.
The Executive President of COCESNA recalled that approximately one year ago a similar event was held in Tegucigalpa to elaborate air navigation plans, with excellent results, concluding his words as follows: “Being We wish you the best of success in this four-day workshop, and that the final result will be the proposal of your own contingency plans and agreements, taking full advantage of the expertise of all the FAA and ICAO facilitators, as well as of the Observer Organizations IATA and CANSO, to whom we are especially grateful for their valuable contribution and presence..”
