Mario R. Martínez, Director of the Central American Institute of Aeronautical Training (ICCAE), on behalf of Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, Executive President of COCESNA, on Tuesday, October 15, 2019. The Central American Integration System (SICA) launched the “Management Workshop on Results-Based Management for Sustainable Development with Equity in the Region (MfDR-SICA)”. The objective is to implement a training process with a focus on Management for Results in development for the System’s institutions in order to strengthen their knowledge in the fulfillment of the regional agenda with a focus on equity.
In this regard, the Secretary General of SICA, Vinicio Cerezo mentioned: “We must identify the objectives of a strategic planning, since we seek excellence in the work that will lead to results towards the implementation of the Development Plan for Central America and the Dominican Republic 2020-2040, which requires a high commitment and training of those who are at the forefront of the process, and there must be adequate education, since there can be no development without it”.
SICA makes no sense if we do not change the face of Central America. The Development Plan will provide opportunities for more people. It requires a high level of commitment and training from those at the forefront of the process.”
The purpose of the training program is to offer a set of training actions to generate the political-institutional conditions for the implementation of a process focused on Management by Results and Equity.
The meeting provided a space for the heads of SICA institutions responsible for decision making, formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of regional policies and strategies in order to sensitize them on the importance and feasibility of adopting the Management for Results in Sustainable Development (MfDR) with Equity approach, in order to achieve the expected results and impacts.
The workshop was divided into three phases: the first phase focused on the contribution of MfDR with equity, its components and tools; the second phase focused on regional and international MfDR experiences; and the last phase analyzed opportunities and conditions for the implementation of MfDR in SICA’s institutional framework to contribute to the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
It should be noted that the program is aimed at SICA institutional heads, who are responsible at the technical level for the formulation and follow-up of policies, programs, projects and regional strategies. This is divided into four blended courses and the deadline for submitting applications is December 2 through December 20 of this year, through the Central American Institute of Public Administration (ICAP).
This effort is being carried out by the General Secretariat of SICA, the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Women Ministers (ST-COMMCA), and the Central American Institute of Public Administration (ICAP), with the support of the European Union (EU).
