The Honduran Council of Private Enterprise (COHEP) kindly invited COCESNA to participate in the launching ceremony of the “Institutional Policy on Business and Human Rights”, which took place in the city of Tegucigalpa on Monday, January 20, 2020. With the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Bureau of Employers’ Activities of the International Labor Organization (ACTEMP).
The main table that presided over this act as witnesses of honor, was integrated by: Lic. María Antonia Rivera, Presidential Designee; Lic. Karla Cueva Aguilar, Minister of the Secretariat of Human Rights; Lic. Juan Carlos Sikaffy Canahuati, President of COHEP; Sr. Roberto Suárez Santos, Secretary General of the International Organization of Employers (IOE); Ms. María Soledad Pazo, Representative of the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights in Honduras; Sr. Alessandro Palmero, Ambassador of the European Union; Abg. Armando Urtecho, Executive Director of COHEP.
COCESNA was represented by Mr. José Alfredo Santos Mondragón, Internal Secretary, who was also in attendance; Authorities and Officials of the Government of the Republic of Honduras, as well as different representatives of the Diplomatic Corps accredited in Honduras and other International Organizations.
This COHEP Institutional Policy on Business and Human Rights, which will be adopted by the Honduran private sector, was designed in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, as well as other International Standards aimed at improving the promotion and practice of Responsible Business Conduct.
COHEP invited business organizations, companies, partners and interested parties to join its effort to generate a positive impact with the adoption of this Institutional Policy, and that it would be the starting point of a constant commitment by the business sector to promote sustainable businesses that respond to the expectations of international markets and open new commercial opportunities for Honduras.
