When Mother Earth sends us a message

Mother Earth is clearly asking us to act. Nature suffers. Australia’s wildfires, the highest land heat records and the worst locust invasion in Kenya… We are now facing COVID -19, a global health pandemic with a strong link to the health of our ecosystem.

Climate change, human-induced changes in nature, as well as crimes that disrupt biodiversity, such as deforestation, land-use change, intensive crop and livestock production or the growing illegal wildlife trade, can increase contact and transmission of infectious diseases from animals to humans (zoonotic diseases).

According to UNEP (United Nations Environment Program), a new infectious disease emerges in humans every 4 months. Of these diseases, 75% come from animals.

This shows the close relationships between human, animal and environmental health.

The visible and positive impact of the virus, whether through improved air quality or reduced greenhouse gas emissions, is but temporary, as it is due to the tragic economic slowdown and human distress.

Let us remember more than ever on this International Mother Earth Day that we need a shift to a more sustainable economy that works for both people and planet. Promoting harmony with nature and the Earth

Club Lions Club Tegucigalpa COCESNA

It was founded on April 30, 2015, and COCESNA employees who are the partners, are engaged in volunteering to serve mainly in five global causes, one of which is the environment.

Environment Environment

We serve to sustainably protect and restore the environment to improve the well-being of all communities.

The earth sustains human life and we have seen how stewardship of natural resources can improve quality of life and increase participation in our communities. Our environment is much more than a stage: it is our home, and we are committed to taking care of it.

We have a plan for the management and donation of trees for schools, their planting and care, including communities where COCESNA facilities are located.

Lions members worldwide have a strategic objective – to sustainably protect and restore the environment to enhance the well-being of all communities – serving to strengthen the relationship between the community and its environment. We have seen how natural resource management can improve the quality of life and increase participation in local communities. Very much in line with the objective and purpose of COCESNA’s social responsibility.
