On June 17, the first virtual course in the field of training of trainers, entitled “Facilitating Virtual Courses”, was successfully completed.

The course was closed with a virtual closing ceremony in which diplomas were officially awarded to both participants and tutors.

This activity is part of the gradual strategy of the start of academic activities in reference to the COVID-19 pandemic and as part of the strengthening of training and development opportunities in the airline industry, under the concept of a new innovative platform. Virtual Training System of ICCAE (VTS-i)In this first call, there were 17 participants from the countries of: Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Colombia and Argentina.

Mario Martínez, Director of the ICCAE, was in charge of the welcoming remarks. He expressed his gratitude for the attention given to the call and for the fact of representing the starting point for the restart of the activities within the framework of the new normality that undoubtedly represent high challenges but also opportunities to become a reference in aeronautical training at an international level.

The course was given by Mr. Flavio Dardón and Mr. César Sánchez, specialists in pedagogy and educational technology, respectively, both with vast experience in the professional aeronautical field and experts in e-learning instruction. This is the first of many courses that ICCAE will be teaching under the virtual modality.

The purpose of the course was to develop skills, knowledge and attitudes to facilitate and evaluate virtual teaching and learning processes under a competency-based approach. This is part of the Comprehensive Teacher Training Program for Aeronautical Professionals and the gradual strengthening of the competency approach in aeronautical training, according to the provisions established in Annex 1 and the recommendations of ICAO Doc. 9868.

All participants expressed that this course exceeded their expectations, showed their gratitude and pride in being part of the first ICCAE associate instructors to receive this training, for the continuous education of students and above all the commitment to contribute to this new methodology of teaching, working and learning.

Martínez, Director of ICCAE, expressed his gratitude to the participants saying: “your words fill us with great pride and motivation to move forward, this new normality will undoubtedly bring out the best in us”.

In the coming days the ICCAE will be announcing the courses available in virtual mode and thus continue to strengthen training in the aviation industry at regional and international level.
