The Central American Corporation of Air Navigation Services (COCESNA), through its specialized unit ATFM, has conducted several post-pandemic studies, including modeling scenarios for the recovery of operations in the Central American IRF.

For the analysis, information was obtained from different organizations worldwide, including CANSO CADENA RIG, IATA, OAG, ICAO and publications by Boston Consulting Group, Aviation and Aerospace Consulting and Services (ICF), among others.

The recovery is expected to be gradual as governmental measures (restrictions) and the economy normalize. Scenario modeling took into consideration the behavior of variables related to the opening of airports, projections of airline operations and passenger flow.

It is important to note that the scenarios were developed taking into account different recovery periods. The actual behavior of the operations versus the different scenarios established can be seen below:

According to actual data generated by the ATFM Unit in November will be exceeding the expectations of operations in the Central American FIR The aviation industry in the region is expected to recover soon.

COCESNA continues to coordinate with Civil Aviation Authorities, airport operators, airlines and different organizations to promote the development of air transportation in a safe, efficient and sustainable manner.
