On December 7, 1997, the General Assembly of the United Nations (UN) officially proclaimed the “International Civil Aviation Day” and also on December 7, 1944, the creation of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) is commemorated. ).
The purpose of International Civil Aviation Day is to help generate and reinforce global awareness of the importance of international civil aviation for the social and economic development of States and of ICAO’s unique role in helping to cooperate and conduct rapid truly global transit network at the service of all humanity.
The ICAO Council establishes a special anniversary theme for International Civil Aviation Day, so the Representatives have selected a single theme for the entire interim period of five (5) years. From 2019 to 2023, the Council decided that the theme is: “Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development” / “Foster innovation for the development of global aviation”
