Last December 2020, COCESNA successfully concluded the studies included in the project “Improvements to CR Infrastructure, 2020”, which were intended to serve as the basis for the design of the expansion of the Costa Rica Station building and the reinforcement of the radar tower for the future purchase and installation of a radome.

The contracting and document review activities were carried out by personnel from the Costa Rica Station Management, under the administrative responsibility of Eng. Hugo Bolaños; Eng. Cristhian Mora as local manager and the support in the review of studies by Nora Guerrero of the Project Management Department.

The project met its objectives:

  • To have a soil study and a structural study to determine the condition of the land and the building, in order to eventually continue with the Costa Rica Station Regional Building Expansion Project in the future, when COCESNA’s financial situation improves.
  • To have an updated structural study with the new dimensions and weights of the antennas of the Juan Santamaría Radar, which concludes that it is possible to install a radome to protect the antennas, once the structural intervention recommended in the design proposal has been carried out.
