November 02-04, 2021.- Under the coordination of COCESNA and its Central American Agency for Aviation Safety (ACSA), within the framework of the EU-LAC-APP Cooperation Project and with the support of EASA; It was possible to teach Module #1 of the Aerospace Medicine Course for Air Medical Examiners, with the participation of Aeronautical Doctors from each of the COCESNA Member States. This is the first module of the four that the course contains, for a total of 60 hours of instruction that will be completed during the first quarter of 2022. The course was prepared by EASA expert physicians, Dr. D. Carlos Velasco Díaz and Dr. Dª Beatriz Puente Espada, based on issues of interest and priorities at the regional level, expressed by the Aeronautical Doctors of the Member States during the different meetings held. The objective of this first module was to address issues such as: Introduction to aerospace medicine and human factors in the aeronautical environment. Aeronautical physiopathology work environment Aeronautical-medical regulation Medical examinations in the EASA model These types of courses strengthen the Member States in their daily activities for Operational Safety Management and their responsibilities as signatories to the Chicago Convention, which is a commitment of COCESNA to continue promoting and coordinating this type of training through the Cooperation Projects that it maintains celebrated with the different Organizations with the objective of generating in a tangible way contributions and benefits for the development of the Region.
Likewise, the support received from the Directors of the Civil Aviation Authorities of the Region has been crucial for the success of the activity.
