January 16, 2022.- COCESNA in conjunction with the Central American Agency for Aviation Safety (ACSA), held a bilateral meeting with the representatives of the EU-LAC-APP cooperation project. On behalf of EASA, there was the participation of Mr. Luc Tytgat – Director of Safety Strategy and Management, Mr. Thomas Mickler – Head of the International Cooperation Department, Ms. Carla Iorio – Head of the International Cooperation Section – America and Africa, Mr. Jose Luis Penedo – Head of Political Affairs, Mr. Carlos Tortosa – Project Manager, Ms. Eleonora Italia – Project Manager, Ms. Ilze Gabrane – Project Assistant and Mr. Eduardo Amat, Technical Coordinator of the Project. On behalf of COCESNA, Mr. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre – Executive Director – CEO, Mr. Alejandro Mena – ACSA Manager, Mr. Giovanni Tobar – Air Transport and Environment Manager, and Ms. Eveling Arauz – participated. Manager of the Regional Accident and Incident Investigation Group. In said meeting, the impact that the project has had in supporting the States through COCESNA/ACSA and its strengthening as a regional entity was expressed.

Similarly, interest was expressed in extending the scope of the project and thus include aerodrome certification (Annex 14), aviation security issues (Security – Annex 17) and accident and incident investigation (Annex 13). in the new EU LAC APP Project. The importance of generating an adequate transition between the closure of the current project and the start of the new project was also highlighted, so that in this way continuity in specific activities is ensured. At closing, COCESNA/ACSA expresses the commitment to maintain the project office in its facilities.
