March 21, 2022. At COCESNA headquarters with the representation of Lic. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, Executive Director-CEO and staff of the Central American Aviation Safety Agency (ACSA), a meeting was held with the Honduran Civil Aviation Agency (AHAC) with the presence of Attorney José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, Minister of National Defense of Honduras, Mr. Gerardo Gabriel Rivera, Executive Director (AHAC), Captain Roberto O’Connor, Deputy Director (AHAC) and on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with Mr. José Manuel Zelaya Rosales, Minister of National Defense of Honduras, Mr. Gerardo Gabriel Rivera, Executive Director (AHAC), Captain Roberto O’Connor, Deputy Director (AHAC) and on behalf of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with Mr. Juan Carlos Trabanino Aguirre, Executive Director (AHAC). This meeting is a joint effort between COCESNA and the FAA to strengthen civil aviation in the region, and its safe and efficient development by signing a Technical Assistance Agreement, which includes training for inspectors of the Authorities and the assignment of FAA Specialists in the areas of operations, airworthiness, licensing and legal to assist and support COCESNA Member States in complying with the Standards and recommended methods of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) contained in Annexes 1, 6 Part I and 8; These activities have been in progress since last year, beginning with the completion of the IASA checklists by Member States and sending them to the FAA for review.

Once this review phase was completed, and based on a series of meetings held, a team of FAA specialists began to visit the Member State of Guatemala in February, continuing this week with the Member State of Honduras, and soon with visits to the Member State of Belize in May and finally to the Member State of Nicaragua in June.

This team of Specialists will assess the oversight capabilities, laws and aeronautical regulations of COCESNA Member States in accordance with the eight critical elements defined in ICAO Document 9734, using the IASA Checklists.
