Through the organization of the General Directorate of Civil Aviation of Costa Rica with the Transportation Security Administration Agency (TSA) of the United States Department of Homeland Security, which manages security systems at airports, the Aviation Security Risk Management Workshop was given during the week of July 18 to 22, 2022 at the COCESNA/ACSA facilities.
The different National Authorities of Costa Rica participated, such as: The Air Surveillance Service, the National Intelligence and Security Directorate (DIS), AVSEC-FAL Unit DGAC of Costa Rica, International Airport Administrators, as well as the participation of concessionaire officials from the Juan Santamaría (AERIS) and Daniel Oduber Quirós Airport (CORIPORT) airports, as well as the participation of AVSEC-FAL specialists from ACSA – COCESNA.
The Workshop was facilitated by TSA Aviation Security Specialists; and as an objective, the application of the principles of risk assessment in their respective airports was established by identifying the critical structure, threats, and specific vulnerabilities of their facilities, in addition, the workshop concluded with a practical exercise that developed an action plan that facilitates the implementation of effective countermeasures against threats, vulnerabilities, and critical infrastructure of the Juan Santamaría International Airport.
