On August 25 of this year, the Directors of Civil Aeronautics of the COCESNA Member States held the 143rd Meeting of the Technical Committee in a hybrid format, meeting in person in the city of San Salvador, El Salvador. Within the work agenda of said technical forum, the Directors together with the Executive Director-CEO and COCESNA Managers were able to discuss and analyze relevant issues for civil aviation in the Central American region, including: ICAO USOAP-CMA and USAP-CMA Audit Processes, Conclusions of the ICAO High-Level Meeting on the Environment, Sustainability of the Civil Aviation System of the Region, Study Notes to be presented at the 41st ICAO Assembly and other relevant topics.

Likewise, an Inter-institutional Cooperation Agreement for the Exchange of Specialists was signed, thus strengthening the Civil Aviation System in the Central American Region. Being the first face-to-face meeting held by this entity, its President, Mr. Nigel Carter, expressed: “It is a pleasure to have the participation of the Directors of Civil Aeronautics of the region as well as the Executives of COCESNA and its Executive Director-CEO in person, after nearly two years of not being able to meet in person due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is very important for the region to continue adopting actions for a successful recovery of aviation in the region as well as ensuring that our region is resilient, thus guaranteeing operations efficiently and safely” COCESNA’s Technical Committee’s main function is to take cognizance of and analyze technical issues that are submitted for consideration by the Civil Aviation Authorities and the Corporation’s Dependencies.
