COCESNA and EASA have agreed on a series of cooperation activities within the framework of the EU-LAC APP project, which will be of great benefit for the strengthening of the Central American Region in terms of maintaining the highest standards in Operational Safety, as well as contributing to reduce polluting emissions from the aeronautical industry.

The work carried out has been arduous and began with a series of meetings held from October 2020 to the present between ACSA and EASA teams, establishing a Work Plan which covers aspects of Operational Safety, Air Navigation Services and Environmental aspects, to be implemented during the periods 2021-2022.

The following is an excerpt from the Work Plan based on the meetings held:

  • The objective of this activity is to develop and implement a single ATM/ANS regulatory framework and enforcement tools, applicable in all the States of the Central American Region.
  • SSP Expert Group Meeting, whose main objective, to support Member States in the implementation in all Member States of the SSP by 2023 to achieve the strategic objective set out in the SSP ICAO NAM/CAR 2018-2023 ICAO SSP Strategy.
  • Environmental Expert Group Meeting, whose main objective is regional actions in the field of CORSIA, SAF and “Action Plan”, within the scope of the global scheme.
  • Meeting of the Operational Safety Experts Group, whose main objective is regional actions within the scope of CORSIA, SAF and Action Plan, within the global scheme.
  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Expert Group Meeting, whose main objective is to promote regional actions related to the implementation and safe operation of unmanned aircraft (UAS) in the region.
