Last Friday, April 23, the first regional meeting of the UAS group (Unmanned Aircraft Systems) was held virtually. Said meeting was moderated by COCESNA/ACSA, in coordination with EASA, and was attended by representatives of Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Costa Rica.
During the meeting, emphasis was placed on resuming the projects related to UAS that were planned before the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as identifying the main needs and challenges that States face when developing and implementing regulations that regulate the operation of drones; Preliminarily, there was talk about the development of a regional UAS registry, the development of regional regulations, the implementation of a regional consultation forum in conjunction with EASA and a special need for training and courses for those in charge of the UAS units of the States.
