March 24, 2022.- ICCAE, initially named “Central American School of Aeronautical Training” (ECCA), was inaugurated on March 23, 1990, according to the minutes of the Sixty-sixth Ordinary Meeting of COCESNA’s Board of Directors. It arose as an initiative to meet the needs of institutional training in the field of air navigation.
With the reform of COCESNA’s bylaws in 2001, ECCA became ICCAE “Instituto Centroamericano de Capacitación Aeronáutica”, acquiring a higher status and the character of an institute to continue strengthening the teaching with high levels of prestige and excellence.
Currently, training is provided to COCESNA, the Civil Aviation Authorities of the Central American Member States and to external international clients.
Its Training Programs are divided into five areas: Air Navigation, Operational Safety, Airport Program, Management / Instructor Program and Aeronautical Maintenance Program.
ICCAE, was recognized as a member of ICAO’s TRAINAIR PLUS Program in 2015 and has made important contributions to civil aviation instruction and human resource development in the Central American Region. He has developed Standardized Teaching Material Sets (SDMs), training multiple instructors and course designers.
ICCAE has certifications and accreditations:
- Certification issued by the Civil Aviation Authority of El Salvador as an Aeronautical Instruction School (EIA) under RAC 141.
- Approved Maintenance Instruction Organization (OIMA) Operator Certificate, under RAC 147.
- ICCAE as a Member of ICAO’s TRAINAIR PLUS Program, recognized as a Regional Training Center of Excellence -RTCE, being the highest accreditation worldwide for aeronautical training organizations.
- ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification by SGS United Kingdom Ltd.
In the year 2022, ICCAE is implementing projects with international institutions such as the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), to continue strengthening the capabilities of aeronautical personnel in the region.
