December 03. 2021.- COCESNA in conjunction with the Central American Agency for Aviation Safety (ACSA) holds a meeting with the European Agency for Aviation Safety (EASA), the General Directorate of Civil Aviation (DGAC) of Costa Rica and the European Commission, with the In order to review the results and give continuity to the cooperation project within the framework of the EU-LAC APP Project, implemented by EASA and financed by the European Union, which has generated great benefits for the strengthening of the Central American Region in order to maintain the highest standards in Operational Safety. In it participated: Mr. Mario Mariani, Head of FPI Regional Team Americas of the European Commission, Ms. Carla IORIO, Manager of the International Cooperation Section – Americas & Africa of EASA, Mr. Eduardo Amat Coordinator of the EU-LAC Project APP, Chap. Alejandro Mena Manager of ACSA, Mr. Álvaro Vargas General Director of the DGAC Costa Rica and Mr. Luis Diego García in charge of the Department of Operational Safety and Aviation Security of the DGAC Costa Rica. The relationship between COCESNA/ACSA and EASA through the EU-LAC APP Project has been at the highest level, an example of this excellent relationship is the signing in April 2018 of the Memorandum of Understanding between both organizations, the location of the main office of the Project at the COCESNA/ACSA facilities and the proposal to continue there. COCESNA/ACSA and the DGAC of Costa Rica showed their support for the project and shared the benefits in terms of knowledge exchange that it has generated on areas of interest.

Likewise, they expressed the importance of expanding the scope of the project to areas of aviation security, aerodrome certification, drones, in addition to the activities already underway and for which continuity is needed.

They also showed their interest in the continuity of the project beyond May 2022, the end date of this first EU-LAC APP project, to successfully carry out the activities already started and develop new ones that have a positive impact on the development of aviation.
