COCESNA, through the Central American Institute for Aeronautical Training (ICCAE), gave the course on Fauna Control and Avian Hazard, which was held from September 19 to 23 of this year, for the personnel of Palmerola International Airport (PIA) in Honduras.
The instructor who taught the course is biologist Ana María Cogollos, a specialist in the subject. The purpose of the course was for the participant to be able to formulate, implement and/or supervise effective aviation wildlife management plans/programs appropriate to the operations, habitats and wildlife species of the airfields where they work.
The course consisted of 7 modules: generalities and planning tools, hazard identification, risk assessment, implementation of bird and other wildlife risk management tools, recording and reporting of wildlife incidents, training and awareness raising, and finally evaluation and follow-up.
