OUR PROJECTS

COCESNA is an International Integration Organization, committed to the economic development of the countries of Central America and the growth of International Civil Aviation, making responsible investments and generating work, through the implementation of aeronautical technology projects for the benefit of airspace users and according to global and regional air navigation plans established by the International Civil Aviation Organization and the needs of our region.

Project and Risk Management is in charge of following up on the formulation, planning and execution of projects that are approved in order to achieve success and optimize the resources allocated.

The following is a description of the projects that COCESNA has been carrying out in recent years and that are included in our planning:

It includes the homogeneous modernization of the systems and implementation of new functionalities of the En Route, Approach and Tower Control Centers, as well as of the aeronautical messaging systems, to improve automation and integration with adjacent FIR Control Centers in Central America and within the Region.

The following projects have been carried out for automation:

  • Approach Control Center for the TMA and Control Tower of the Mundo Maya International Airport, Guatemala. (2019)

  • Approach Control Center for the TMA and Control Tower of the Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport, which includes APP control positions and Control Tower of the Toncontin International Airport and Control Towers of the Juan Manuel Gálvez and Golosón de Honduras International Airports, including the construction of a Building for the APP Control Center located at the Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport.   • Surveillance data presentation consoles for Puerto Cabezas, Bluefields and San Juan Nicaragua Airports. (2019)

  • Renewal of the ATIS systems at Juan Santamaría and Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airports with state-of-the-art equipment developed by COCESNA. (2020)

  • Surveillance and tower data display consoles for Bluefields Airport and San Juan Nicaragua. (2021)

  • Updating of the AMHS system and implementation of a contingency system at CENAMER’s Backup Control Center in El Salvador. (2021)

Seven (7) ILS/DME systems and five (5) DVOR/DME systems were renewed in three phases; in 2021, the installation of the sixth DVOR/DME will be completed.

  • Installation of PSR Primary Radar with Meteorological Channel at Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport (2019)

  • Secondary Mode S Radar Renovation with ADS-B capability at the Cerro Niktun site, for the Mundo Maya International Airport Approach (2019).

  • Renovation of Mode S Secondary Radar with ADS-B capability Bluefields Airport (2019)

  • Installation of a Wide Area Multilateration System (WAM) for the TMA of La Aurora International Airport (2019 – 2021).

  • Renewal of Air – Ground Mobile Communications (AMS) equipment for en route, approach, tower and surface services, including last resort consoles for Central America International Airports (2018 – 2020).

  • Renovation of the Voice Communications System (MCS) of the Approach Control Center for the TMA and Control Tower of the International Airport, Mundo Maya, Guatemala (2019).

  • Renovation of the Voice Communications Systems and Voice Recorder of the Approach Control Center for the TMA and Control Tower of the Ramón Villeda Morales International Airport, Honduras (2019).

  • Renovation of the Voice Recorder of the APP Console and Control Tower of the International Airport Toncontin, Honduras (2020)

  • Renewal of COCESNA’s Aeronautical Telecommunications Network terrestrial microwave radio links and last mile links in Central America (2019-2021).

  • CENAMER Control Center for the Upper Airspace Control of the Central American IRF, located in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

  • CENAMER Backup Control Center, located at Ilopango Airport, El Salvador.

  • Approach Control Center for the TMA and Control Tower of the Augusto C. Sandino International Airport, Nicaragua.

  • Installation of Automatic Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) for the Ramón Villeda Morales, Toncontin, Juan Manuel Gálvez and Ramón Villeda Morales International Airports in Honduras (2017 – 2019).
